More than 7,000 students from Central and Western schools attended the Fiji National University’s Open Day today at the Nasinu campus.

Naitasiri Secondary School student Isabell Senilewadua had the opportunity to explore and plan for her future.

17-year-old Senilewadua says she wants to study land surveying and has received some very important information about the course from the team.

Senilewadua says she will also submit her application today after which she will be given a provisional offer letter that will assure her that she has a space at FNU after the final examination.

Semisi Borasa a year 13 student of Noco Secondary School from Rewa says it is the first Open Day he has attended and has found it very informative to make his decisions.

Borasa says he wants to become a mechanical engineer as his interests have always evolved around cars.

He says he would like to join FNU as it is a prestigious university and has the resources in which he is interested.

Meanwhile, Shane Nand a student at PT Shreedhar Maharaj College from Wainibokasi says FNU provided the students with great exposure and friendly environment.

Nand says he is yet to decide what university he wishes to join and today is an opportunity for him to clear his doubts with whatever he has planned.

FNU Deputy Chancellor, Doctor Alisi Talatoka Vudiniabola says vocational training and higher education play a vital role for a brighter future.

Dr. Vudiniabola says the world is changing and the demand for skilled workers such as engineering, health care and hospitality is also growing constantly.

She says they also have short courses for high school dropouts, street dwellers and other vulnerable people in society because for them every dream matters and should be turned into reality.

Meanwhile, Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba says it is a new journey for students and they promise to help them achieve their goals as FNU has produced some of the best doctors and nurses in the Pacific.

Professor Nabobo-Baba says today is a celebration of aspirations, potential and the journey that awaits each and everyone to turn their dreams into tangible and meaningful accomplishments.

The FNU 2023 Open Day at the Nasinu Campus continues tomorrow.

The theme for this year's Open Day is "Dreams into Reality".
