More than 2,000 marijuana plants were uprooted from three farms in Kadavu this week.

The first raid was conducted at Lavidi Village where more than 300 marijuana plants were uprooted.

130 plants were uprooted in Vacalea.

On Friday, more than 1,500 marijuana plants were uprooted from a farm in Naikorokoro Village.

Police say the owners of the farms are yet to be located.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says the momentum on the war on drugs will increase as we enter the festive season.

Khan says the focus is on green and white drugs with the latter being more complex as it takes time to gather and conduct the necessary intelligence-driven operations.

Police arrest Turaga-ni-Koro and 15-year-old in separate incidents involving drugs

Police have arrested a 42-year-old Turaga-ni-Koro after a raid conducted at his house in Loa village in Cakaudrove resulted in the seizure of marijuana.

Upon further investigations, Police discovered a farm with more than 180 plants believed to be marijuana allegedly belonging to the suspect.

Police say more than 2,000 marijuana plants were uprooted from the Loa and Naqio Hills and near Vunikura Village in Cakaudrove this week.

Five others were arrested by the joint operations team and processed at the Tukavesi Police Station where they have been charged and produced in court.

In Taveuni, a 15-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man were arrested and charged for their alleged involvement in drug-related activities while two farmers were arrested and processed in Savusavu for similar offences.
