Regional Workforce Management which is the largest approved employer for Fijians in Australia, has engaged more than 1,000 Fijian workers under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility program since August 2019.

This has been highlighted by Regional Workforce Management CEO, Mr Brad Seagrott while meeting the Permanent Secretary for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Osea Cawaru.

Seagrott says that this will continue to increase and in during his visit, they are also exploring the option to recruit about 40 potential workers with special skills in Halal Slaughterman to work in various meat works industries in Australia.

He says the Ministry has been providing tremendous support to their business and they are very proud to provide an opportunity to the Fijian workers; who similarly they have been performing a tremendous job for us.

The CEO says people are very proud of the opportunity under the scheme for the business to grow, as well as their support towards their families back here in Fiji and for making a difference in their lives.

Cawaru has highlighted the need for more women's participation which could be a challenge, but also an opportunity for our Fijian women.

Discussions were also held on the number of absconding and disengagements of Fijian workers and looking at avenues in addressing these issues.

Seagrott says they are here to strengthen our partnership and understand how they can do things better to support each other.
