More people continue to disregard curfew and health related restrictions as 47 arrests were made in the last 24 hours

People still breaching social gathering guidelines to drink grog and alcohol

With authorities making numerous calls for people to follow curfew and health related restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19, more people continue to disregard the orders as an alarming 47 arrests were made in the last 24 hours. People are still being arrested for breaching curfew and social gathering guidelines to drink grog and alcohol.

Acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu says the Southern Division recorded 33 cases and most were alcohol related.

Tudravu says 7 people were arrested at Wailea settlement in Vatuwaqa, 6 were caught in Nadera and 5 were arrested at Naqumu Point in Lami for breaching social gathering guidelines.

He says two men in their 20’s were found drunk in Tacirua while three men were arrested at Joe’s Farm area in Colo-i-Suva.

Tudravu says three men were found drunk while a 29-year-old man and two others were found loitering during curfew hours in Samabula.

Three people from different households in Narere were arrested after they were caught drinking grog.

18 people were arrested in the Western Division. Five farmers were found drunk at Nabalabala village, five other cases for intoxication were recorded in Lautoka while two people were arrested at Sorokoba for a similar case.

He says a 22-year-old man was arrested for breaching curfew orders while five others were found loitering in Lautoka City.

Tudravu says the Eastern Division recorded 11 cases.

Four men were found drunk near a seawall at Malau in Labasa.
