We need greater partnership and collaboration to achieve our sustainable development goals, and renewable energy goals to enact our climate change mitigation measures.

This has been highlighted by the Assistant Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Sakiusa Tubuna during the cleanup campaign in Qauia Settlement in Lami yesterday afternoon organised by the Eco Guardians of Fiji.

Tubuna says Fiji Government will welcome whatever help it can get when it comes to environmental protection and safeguarding our beloved country for the generations to come efforts to enhance waste management practices, promote climate resilience, and maintain the cleanliness of our communities.

He also acknowledged their participants, highlighting that their involvement is a beacon of hope as they extend their hearts and pride in nature and caring for the environment for the people of Fiji.

The participants combed through the designated route from Qauia Settlement to Tikaram Park, collecting waste and recyclable materials.

With the support of the Embassies of Japan and the U.S., the Seventh Day Adventist Church and relevant authorities, the event saw participation from local community members, volunteers and environmental advocates joining hands to create a clean and safe community.

The campaign was also graced by the crew members of the visiting frigate, JS Noshiro, who helped with picking up rubbish.

The event concluded with a few displays and performances that promoted environmental stewardship.
