Assistant Commissioner for Police Operations, Livai Driu is calling on officers of the Central Policing Division for more boots on the ground during the festive season.

ACP Driu highlighted this during the Central Division Operation Readiness Check Parade at Furnival Park, Toorak and says when it comes to safety and security in the city of Suva, Police visibility is the key.

Driu says visibility gives the perception that officers are there when trouble strikes and that they are there to keep troublemakers at bay.

He says they need to give their communities a reason to work with them as the wrong behaviour, wrong attitude and inaction will only widen the gap between police and the communities.

During the Parade officers were reminded that the Capital City will be the usual centre of attention this festive season with major social activities, drawing families and friends in numbers.

Driu further says Fijians and visitors to our shores will expect only one thing from them and that is assurances of their safety and security.

He adds they will want to move about freely in the capital and enjoy their hard-earned money on their loved ones without constantly having to look over their shoulders, fearing for their safety.

Central Division Police Officers were also reminded to strengthen their Community Policing Partnership.
