Mokani villagers and community members came out in numbers to donate their blood for a good cause to make a real difference in their community.

The Mokani Youth Club and the Mokani Rugby Club are working closely with the Ministry of Health in organising a one-day Blood Donation Drive at the Mokani Village Hall.

Mokani Rugby Club President Seremaia Vueti Snr says at the end of the day, donating blood is saving someone's life and making a real difference to the community.

He believes that donating blood is crucial in saving lives.

Vueti Snr says they had targeted to collect more than 30 blood donations from their voluntary donors.

He adds they promoted this Blood Donation Drive through their village meetings and various committees meetings within their community.

He thanked the Mokani Rugby Club Management, Current and Ex Rugby Players for supporting this great initiative and being a real hero in saving someone's life.

Mokani Rugby Club Referee Tomasi Radakua, who is a blood donor, said that he was so blessed to attend this blood donation.

He says his gift of blood will save someone's life in the hospital, and his kindness and love will shine in someone's life in future who is really in need of blood.

Mokani Youth Club member, Wata Mualevu, says the benefits of donating blood include helping people injured in accidents, undergoing cancer treatment, and battling blood diseases, among other reasons.

She adds that maybe this blood donation will save hundreds of lives in Fiji.

Mokani Youth Club President, Salaseini Waibasaga, thanked the whole Mokani community for participating in the one-day Blood Donation Drive.

She says this blood donation drive was brought up after the COVID pandemic when a few community members were admitted to their nearest hospital and requested blood donors from their family members.

She is thankful to community and church leaders for supporting this initiative during their village meeting last month.
