Moana Pasifika caused the major upset of round 4 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific after securing a 40-31 win over Hurricanes last.
Flanker Miracle Faiilagi was the toast for the Moana side as he scored a hattrick of tries to help them secure the win.
Odds were stacked against the home side, but that did not stop them from doing the unthinkable, securing their first win of the season against a much-stacked Hurricanes side.
Former Hurricanes backrower and current Moana Pasifika captain Ardie Savea had to be pulled off the field early in the match due to a hamstring injury, but Moana kept fighting and denied the visitors a come-from-behind win.
Meanwhile, Fiji-born winger Jone Rova made his debut off the bench for the Hurricanes and scored a try but it was not enough to help his side.
In another match last night, the Waratahs secured their 3rd consecutive win this season, a first-ever feat after 16 long years, after defeating the Western Force 34-10.
Round 4 of the Super Rugby Pacific produced some surprising results with the Brumbies securing a close 21-20 win over the Blues in Auckland on Friday, and the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua defeating the Chiefs 28-24 in Lautoka.
The Crusaders will host the Reds in the last match of round 4 at 2.35pm today.
