The Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Attorney General’s Office through a joint initiative held consultations on the Review of the Regulation of Surfing Areas Act 2010 in Nadroga yesterday.

Members of the Sigatoka community, Momi Village, Nabila Village, and Yako Village gathered in numbers to share their opinions on the review of the Act.

The coalition government is conducting this consultation with the belief that a working legal framework that is clear and transparent can achieve shared goals of economic development and intergenerational wealth.

The consultation also aims to minimise conflict, particularly to the benefit of the tourism sector and resource owners.

In this review, the Government aims to continue promoting Fiji as a premier surf adventure tourism destination while ensuring protection and equitable compensation to landowners for the use of their natural resources.

Consultations will be held at the Nadi Town Council today between 10am to 12pm and in Rakiraki Town Council between 2pm to 4pm.
