The Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport has clarified that Clubs are to remain closed until further notice and only Bars and Taverns have been granted permission to open under strict conditions.

It was earlier stated that Clubs in Fiji can re-open from November 11th however this referred to sports clubs and not nightclubs.

When questioned on known nightclubs such as O'Reilly's and Temptation re-opening from last night, the Ministry says these places have remodeled and opened as Bars and Taverns.

Under the COVID-Safe Business Operations for Bars and Taverns, a maximum of 10 customers per bubble is allowed with 2 metres distance between each bubble.

Each table is to be considered as a bubble and customers are to remain in their respective bubble and can only remove masks at the point of consuming their meals or drinks.

Businesses are strongly encouraged to take reservations and ensure no there is crowding outside of the establishment.

The guideline also states that customers must not share glasses, bilos and cutleries amongst themselves.

Businesses must close operations at least 2 hours before curfew to allow for necessary movement.

Any person who fails to comply with the mandatory requirements under this protocol as ordered by the Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or both.

In addition, the approvals provided to the business may be revoked.
