President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou

President of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou has raised concerns that faithful members of the church are leaving due to the bad, inconsistent and impractical leadership within the church.

While opening the Bose Ko Viti, Reverend Turagavou, says church leaders are abusing their authority and are being blamed for bad leadership. He also reminded the ministers that church funds should not be used for personal benefit.

Reverend Turagavou says church members have raised their concern about the type of leadership within the church, where church leaders have been abusing grog and cigarettes in front of church members.

While showing his concern that such actions are being practised by church leaders, Reverend Turagavou says these were some reasons raised by members of the church on why they have departed from the Methodist Church.

He also highlighted the concerns about the increase in the abuse of drugs, which has been impacting a lot of communities.

The Methodist Church held a march from the Suva Flea Market to the Centenary Church yesterday to mark the 60th anniversary of the Church.

The Methodist Church Annual Conference will be held at Furnival Park in Suva from today to Friday.
