Multiple raids conducted in the last 24-hour period resulted in the discovery of alleged illicit substances as well as money believed to be proceeds of crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu says officers searched a group of youth cutting cane at a farm in Tabia in Labasa yesterday where they found dried leaves believed to be marijuana that led to arrests.

In a separate raid conducted by officers from the Narcotics and Crime Intel Unit and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit in Vunivau Labasa, several packets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and money believed to be proceeds of the sale were seized.

Police say a suspect was also taken into custody.

They say in the Northern Division, the Cakau Operations team seized plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area yesterday.

The farm owner is known to police and efforts are underway to locate his whereabouts.

ACP Driu says in the Western Division in Waqadra in Nadi, officers from the Western K9 Unit and FDDU intercepted a vehicle believed to have been transporting drugs.

He says upon searching the vehicle, a bag containing parcels of white substances believed to be methamphetamine was found and three men were taken in for questioning.

He says all seized substances have been sent for analysis.

ACP Driu says the successful raids were a result of information shared by members of the public.

He adds the sharing of information is truly appreciated and should be a warning to those involved in the illicit trade, that they will be caught.
