19-year-old medical student, Anishil Visant Kumar is thankful to the Fiji National University for initiating the Student Bursary Scheme which has provided relief for 19 private students.

Kumar says he is thrilled to learn of his selection and he appreciates the support given to the students to ease the financial burden of their tuition fees.

He says he will continue to work hard to maintain the scholarship in the second semester.

FNU Vice-Chancellor Toby Wilkinson congratulated the inaugural bursary scheme awardees through a Zoom session earlier today.

Wilkinson says its good to see that the recipients are from across FNU’s colleges and campuses.

He says the Bursary Scheme is a sign of FNU’s commitment to supporting students and their families, especially through the current challenges and they hope that the bursaries will enable students to concentrate on their studies without any financial worries.

He adds they are confident that the students will work hard, go on to have successful careers, and become ambassadors for FNU.

19 private students at FNU have been assisted with the payment of their tuition fees for Semester 1, 2021 through the University’s newly launched Student Bursary Scheme.

The recipients are full-time first-year local students who are enrolled in Undergraduate Bachelor’s programmes at FNU and are not on any other form of scholarship or sponsorship.

A total of $2,000 tuition assistance ($1,000 per semester) will be given for the year 2021.

To be eligible to continue receiving a similar allocation in Semester 2, the student must maintain a full study load, be enrolled and have a satisfactory performance in their studies as verified by the Dean of the College.
