Mark One Apparel Managing Director, Mark Halabe says their exports were worth about $1 million a month before COVID-19 but this is not the case anymore.

They are now projecting a 7 figure profit this year.

While speaking during the Fiji Chamber of Commerce and Industry Seminar on Business Outlook – 2021 and Beyond, Challenges of Working with COVID-19, Halabe says 80% of their business is sports wear for Australian teams in the NRL, AFL and other team sports.

He also revealed his 2 daughters started developing soft bras 5 years ago and are now making $5 million a year – all this by selling online.

Halabe has highlighted that they are focusing more on the online market and adds that the old system of doing business is when you send your goods out and pray that they pay up in 90 days.

The Managing Director says they now have orders coming everyday where DHL is picking up 100 to 300 parcels everyday and are shipping it around the world.

Halabe says the ‘Made in Fiji’ label in Australia is a far more valuable than the ‘Made in China’ because there is a geo-political situation between China and Australia where China is being difficult and there is this view that they should move away from things manufactured in China.
