The “Mana Voyage in Darkness” concert held at the Civic Auditorium in Suva last night has received great response and funds raised though the event will be directed to inspire visually impaired children to enhance their creativity, communication and coordination skills.

The event was organised by ISLIYE Creative Committee.

According to the Committee, the funds will be used to purchase art supplies and musical instruments and pay professional teachers and musicians to mentor the children at the Fiji Society for the Blind.

Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama who was the Chief Guest at the event says through the on-going art, musical coaching and mentoring, these special children will be independent and will be able to pursue a career in music and arts.

He says people must be encouraged to express themselves in the way that best suits them, including through the visual arts and music.

He has thanked those who attended the event as it will go a long way to support the visually impaired children.

Bainimarama also acknowledged the organisers of the event and special mention was made to Jane Rem-Seam, the wife of Ambassador of the European Union in Fiji and the Pacific, Sujiro Seam.

Pasifika Voices, Mia Kami, Manava Performing Arts Fiji, Molly Powers-Tora, David Maligin, Justin Hickes, TuinzFiji, Sumeet Tappoo, Savuto Vakadewavosa, Romulo Vukevuke and Ken Janson and Tom Mawi and Friends performed at the event last night.
