A man has been arrested following a break-in at Gyan Mandir in Samabula yesterday morning.
Speaking to fijivillage News, Pundit Shelvin Vishal Sharma says he arrived to find the temple in disarray, with items missing.
He says he immediately became suspicious and upon checking the security camera footage, confirmed a theft had occurred.
Sharma says it was not difficult to locate the suspect, as he is a repeat offender known for stealing from temples.
The Pundit says groceries and money were stolen and they are still assessing the total cost of the loss.
He also acknowledges police for their prompt action in arresting the suspect.
Sharma says a temple is a sacred place where God resides and people should respect and protect it.
When fijivillage News reached out to police, they confirmed that the man is in custody at the Samabula Police Station.
