SODELPA Leader, Viliame Gavoka says he does not condone derogatory remarks like the comments made by one of the people looking after the movement of the people going in and out of the recent SODELPA meeting venues.

Gavoka has made the comments after Fijivillage raised the question on the party’s stand after the man came and started chasing a group of journalists waiting at a sheltered area for the press conference at the Novotel Convention Centre in Lami.

A Fijivillage journalist and other journalists were made to stand outside the main gate throughout the AGM despite periods of heavy rain on Saturday.

There was a sheltered area quite a distance from the AGM room however the man continued to chase the reporters.

The man said that “even when we tell the Indians once to get out, they would follow, so why are you not moving out.”

When questioned by Legend FM News, Gavoka says he is concerned and these words will not be entertained.

He says he has found out that security services were outsourced, the party is deeply sorry for what had happened and stresses that it does not condone any sort of racist remarks.

Gavoka also says that he will look at proper media arrangements in a sheltered area for all future SODELPA meetings even if the journalists cannot be inside the room, as that type of treatment is unacceptable.
