It was a great moment for the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Fiji Nor'Azam Mohd Idrus and his wife Evi Alenafiastutie, as they hosted the Eid-al-Fitr at their residence, ‘Rumah Malaysia’ today. Speaking at the event, the High Commissioner says as the end of the holy month of Ramadhan is marked, Eid-al-Fitr signifies that during this time they have endeavored to do their best and to have righteous thoughts consistently kept in the forefront of their minds with the hope it would lead to righteous acts.

He says speaking of the broader community, he is humbled that this affair drew a diverse crowd rather representative of the two-billion-odd Muslims globally.

He thanked the Malaysian community in Suva and Malaysians who made the space feel like a home away from home, for supporting them and making occasions like this hold special significance.

The High Commissioner says days like this provide splendid and precious opportunities to unite and strengthen the ties that bind them as proud Malaysians.

He extended a heartfelt invitation to all Malaysians present at the event today to spread the word to fellow Malaysians who may not be aware to register with the High Commission as this will ensure that Malaysians residing in Suva are connected and accounted for.

He says spreading this message will enable him and his team at the High Commission to better serve and assist their community members in times of need.

Idrus says they will always prioritize taking care of the welfare and well-being of the Malaysian citizens living abroad.

He says whether it is providing consular assistance, promoting the concept of Malaysia Madani through program Mendamping Rakyat Malaysia, or organizing events in conjunction with Malaysia's main religious and cultural celebrations and festivals, they are committed to serving people to the best of their abilities.

He says today's presence was a testament to the uniting bonds of kinship and friendship that transcend borders and cultures.

He encourages everyone to embrace the spirit of Eid al-Fitr with open hearts and minds. He encouraged everyone congregated today to remain actively engaged with the High Commission.

He says he eagerly anticipates fostering a greater sense of community through more joyful opportunities for everyone to come together like this in the future.

He thanked his wife, the chairperson of the High Commission of Malaysia in Suva’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ladies association, Malaysia, and her PERWAKILAN Suva members for preparing the dish for the event.

Attending the celebration were the President of Masjid Al Haqq Rabi Chand, Capital Insurance Chief Executive Officer David Ariff Chan, Assistant Professor FNU Zakiya Ali, other guests and Malaysian representatives.
