22-year-old Swire Shipping Fijian Drua lock Chris Minimbi says the belief and trust players have in their families have inspired the team to continue to put on a fantastic show every time they take the field.

The Drua left for Australia in November last year and the man who has links to Kadavu misses his family but most of all, he misses the Fijian delicacies such as rourou and curry chicken on Sunday.

Minimbi says family is the most important thing within the team and being part of the Drua has made their stay in Australia much easier.

He adds the bond in the team has grown since their arrival in November and players understand their role within the team.

The former Naitasiri lock has paternal links to Papua New Guinea and maternal links to Nakasaleka village in Kadavu.

He moved to Fiji and attended Marist Brothers High School from Form 3 to Form 7 and was also part of the school rugby team during the Secondary Schools Deans Competition.

Minimbi was part of the Fiji Under 20 squad in 2019 and 2020 and also made his debut for the Fiji Warriors in 2020.

He managed to impress the Flying Fijians management and made his debut for the national team in 2020.

The Drua will meet the Rebels at 8.45pm Friday.

In other matches this weekend, the Moana Pasifika will play the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Friday, the Force take on the Brumbies at 11pm Friday, the Highlanders battle the Blues at 3.35pm Saturday, the Chiefs will face the Crusaders at 6.05pm Saturday while the Reds will face the Waratahs at 8.45pm Saturday.

You can also purchase tickets for the Drua vs Highlanders match on 30th April at the ANZ Stadium from the Fiji Sports Council office located at the FMF Gymnasium, any of Post Fiji’s 58 Post Shops throughout Fiji, and the Fiji Rugby Union office at Gordon Street in Suva.
