The Macuata Rugby Provincial team in Labasa got the opportunity to train with former Wallabies and Fijian Rugby legends Lote Tuqiri and Radike Samo.

This is part of the Vuvale Week program which has been made possible through the support of the Australian Government's PacificAus Sports program and the strong partnership between Fiji Rugby Union and Rugby Australia.

The training session also included Queensland Reds’ Isaac Henry and Joana Rabaka who came together in the spirit of Vuvale to share their knowledge of the game and help inspire the Macuata Rugby side as they prepare for the upcoming Skipper Cup competition this season.

Macuata Rugby Union Assistant Coach Voreqe Bainimarama says the presence of the former Wallabies is a boost for both the players and coaching staff.

Bainimarama says most of these players usually just see these rugby legends on tv, and to get this opportunity to spend time with them and learn a few rugby skills is something they are grateful for.

Former Wallabies back-rower Radike Samo says they were delighted to have taken Vuvale week to the North and help support some of Fiji's future Rugby stars.

He says there is nothing like the comradery built among young players in the game and it’s clear from their training session that these local boys are willing to learn and give their full efforts in making their district and their families proud.
