The Ministry of Health says they have still not received any official complaint following the death of a patient at Nadi Hospital.

The Ministry earlier said that they will engage in an official investigation if an official complaint is lodged.

This is after concerns were raised by a parent on Facebook regarding the death of her daughter.

She also alleges that it is due to negligence.

She posted that her daughter visited Nadi Hospital on the 13th of July after she suffered a sudden asthma attack.

The mother says when she was informed that her daughter was in critical condition, the doctors decided to transfer her daughter to the Lautoka Hospital, but there were delays in transporting her to the hospital.

She also claims that her daughter was over dosed.

The Ministry says the severely ill patient who sought care at Nadi Hospital on the 13th of July was suffering from severe bronchial asthma.

They say the patient was transferred to the Lautoka Hospital, where she sadly passed away the following day.

The Ministry says it has established procedures to address grievances from families, and they will coordinate with the family to allow that process to occur.

They remind people that social media may not be the most effective platform for addressing complaints regarding the Ministry's services.

We are still trying to speak to the family and whether they will file a complaint with the Ministry of Health.
