Former Suva rugby captain and national 7s player James Brown has dedicated his achievement of completing the basic recruits training with the Fiji Police Force to his late father and son.

Brown is part of the 184 police recruits who completed their training at the Fiji Police Academy and are also the first batch to graduate with a Level 4 Certificate in Policing.

Brown says losing his dad and his son in the last two years was a driving force for him.

He says it was not easy to cope but this got him going.

Brown says it is time he fulfils his dreams since he will not be playing rugby for the whole of his life.

While officiating at the passing out parade, Minister for Defence, Inia Seruiratu says this is a testament to perseverance, commitment and the hard work that these fine individuals have mastered to successfully complete the four months of basic training.

He says the instructors have unleashed the potential and nurtured these young men and women to become good and responsible police officers.

While speaking to the newly graduated officers, Seruiratu says ahead of them lie years of service to the people of Fiji, which he is confident they will perform with the customary flair and dedication the Force is known for.

The Minister also urged them to know their roles and responsibilities and take ownership of their actions and remain apolitical in the execution of their duties.
