The Founder of Pacific Recycling Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of Waste Recyclers Fiji Limited Amitesh Deo is urging all Fijians to make this Christmas greener by taking small and sustainable actions in their homes and communities as little choices will make a big difference if we think about using reusable or eco-friendly gift-wrapping methods.

He says many will purchase new appliances and homeware during this period, but this does not mean that the old ones have to end up at dumpsites or in waterways however, unused or non-working appliances can be taken to their yards in Lami and Lautoka for recycling.

Deo says as we close this year, we need to make reflections on our actions and decisions towards the environment whether we as a country have done enough to achieve sustainable policies and practices when it comes to waste management.

He also says the lack of civic pride towards waste management and recycling is still a major concern and this only goes to show that we have a lot to achieve as a nation.

The Founder and CEO says through their advocacy programs and specially tailored recycling projects, PRF and WRFL are working tirelessly with their partners to change behaviour, mindsets and inculcate best practices of waste management.
