Leadership Fiji launches Community Fund to help community based projects

Leadership Fiji has launched a Community Fund which will receive and manage the funds from organizations, donors, Leadership Fiji Alumni and other individuals to support and fund community-based projects.

Leadership Fiji Community Fund Chairman Rajesh Patel says this could not have come at a better time as COVID-19 has presented a lot of challenges for Fiji, and this is one of the ways they can give back to the community.

Patel has announced that they have $160,000 to potentially distribute for life-changing community developments by making a positive social impact for Fiji’s communities.

Patel says they have received funding from the Parkinson Pacific Foundation and various Leadership groups who have donated leftover funds from community projects.

He says their goal is to focus on small grants of $5,000 to $10,000 recognising this is an area that larger donor organizations find difficult to support.

Patel says the Parkinson Pacific Foundation has committed to donate a minimum of $70,000 per annum to the Fund over the next three years.

Speaking on behalf of the Parkinson Pacific Foundation, William Parkinson says he hopes that other Fijian donors and philanthropists would see this as a great way of making a difference in these difficult times.

Leadership Fiji CEO Sharyne Fong says they hope that the Fund will provide their alumni with the opportunity to connect the community projects and activities for which they have become known for.

Fong says the Leadership Fiji Community Fund is ready to receive applications for funding in Child Development, Education, Food and Nutrition, Animal Protection, Development and Protection of Women and families, Leadership Training, Promoting Democracy, Free exchange of ideas and Sustainable Community Environment Projects.

The call for Proposal Application Form is available on leadershipfiji.org
