Mahendra Kumar of Nabekavu, Waiqele Labasa is pleading for help after his 3-bedroom house was broken into and set on fire last week.

Kumar says he was returning from Suva when his household items like a fridge, TV, chainsaw, food items and clothes were all stolen and his house was set on fire.

He says when he reached home the next morning there was only one police officer guarding the scene and after that, no officers came to do any investigation on the matter.

The retired police officer says when he later called the police and the Divisional Command Centre to ask why his statement was not taken, he was told that they did not know about the matter.

The 59-year-old says a crime officer came on the next day and he handed a fork with marks to an officer as evidence that did not belong to him yet nothing has been done yet.

He says his house was broken into in the past as well and things were stolen from his farm but police have not taken action despite reports being filed.

Kumar says there is support provided to him and his wife from overseas.

Anyone who wishes to assist Mahendra Kumar can call him on 9201831.

Police had earlier said that investigations into the matter continue and no one has been taken into custody so far.

We have also sent questions on the progress of the investigation and what has been done so far. They are yet to respond.
