The Land Transport Authority is urging the public to refrain from accepting offers from individuals pretending to be LTA officers and offering taxi permits to members of the public.

The Authority says they have received information regarding some individuals pretending or impersonating LTA officers, and offering taxi permits.

They have advised the public that these individuals are unknown to the LTA and do not represent the Authority in any capacity.

They say the recent lifting of the freeze on Public Service Vehicle permits by Cabinet this month applies to LH, LR, LM and LC.

This is in line with LTA’s commitment to promoting fair distribution of PSV permits to foster equal economic participation, but, unfortunately, some individuals are taking advantage of this initiative to engage in illegal activities and scams offering taxi permits to unsuspecting members of the public.

LTA is reminding members of the public not to engage with these individuals and they are also advising the public that there is no processing taxi permit applications at the moment as a review of the current legislation and quota system for taxi permit allocations is underway.

Meanwhile, the processing of LH, LR, LM and LC permits is open at LTA Offices where the Authority would like to reiterate that all LTA services and payment of fees are only conducted at LTA Offices and not at any other locations or by individuals.

The Authority will not be responsible for any illegal dealings undertaken by these impersonators.

They add if anyone is approached by such persons, the public is asked to immediately report the incident to the Police and the LTA where possible criminal investigation and charges could be applied should an individual be found to be engaged in these illegal activities and taxi permit scams.
