The Land Transport Authority and Fiji Ports Corporation Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to provide a framework of collaboration that will enhance their cooperation regarding their service of delivery in Fiji.

While signing the MOU, LTA Acting Chief Executive Officer Irimaia Rokosawa says the agreement was a significant milestone that strengthened the capacity-building on issues relevant to both parties.

He says they are very thankful to the management team for initiating this MOU and will work within the ambit and the understanding of the spirit of the agreement in terms of the cooperation of the two agencies to enforce strategies and advocate for road safety and the maintenance of infrastructure.

He adds that this will also enable them to work closely with FPCL to promote, enhance, and strengthen their cooperation and coordinate where possible in supporting FPCL’s vision, mission and responsibilities under the law.

The acting CEO says under the MOU, FPCL will also undertake to train their LTA officers on wharf operations, provide access for their officers to enter FPCL facilities and carry out enforcement work.
