The Land Transport Authority has announced that all LTA customers will need to create an email account and register with the LTA or download and activate the LTA phone app by 18th May this year.

Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Simpson says failure to do so will result in their customers LTA account being frozen if they have not registered.

If any account is frozen, people will not be able to renew their licenses or permits or perform any transaction at the LTA.

Simpson says that Red light and Speed Camera Traffic Infringement Notices (TINs) will only be sent out by email from 18th May this year.

Traffic Infringement Notices issued at the roadside will still be handed to drivers by the LTA or Police Officers.

The LTA says if someone is registered for e-services and shares an email address with someone else, then one must obtain a new email address that is unique and exclusive.

We have sent questions to the LTA and have asked as to what will happen to hundreds of people who don’t have access to email services and don’t even have smart phones.

We have also asked the LTA that even if a taxi or bus driver who will try to create an email account at an internet shop, will the LTA expect him or her to keep going to the internet shop to keep checking if he or she has got a TIN.

We have also asked that LTA on why there has not been wide publicity about these major changes as hardly anyone knows about these changes that are being brought by the LTA.
