To raise awareness on the dangers of driver fatigue resulting in accidents and fatalities, the Land Transport Authority and NESCAFE, as part of their “Stop, Revive, Survive” road safety campaign will have dedicated roadside resting spots that will be set up around the country this month.

LTA says the "Stop, Revive, Survive" campaign is designed to encourage drivers to take regular breaks, especially during long journeys, to mitigate the risks associated with fatigue.

LTA Acting CEO Irimaia Rokosawa says fatigue is a silent but deadly threat on our roads.

He says through this campaign, they aim to educate drivers about the risks of driving while tired and provide them with the resources they need to travel safely.

Rokosawa is also urging all drivers to take advantage of the resting spots and free coffee provided.

LTA says these roadside resting spots provide a safe and convenient place for drivers to pull over and take a much-needed break before continuing on their journey.

LTA says the first resting spots was set up last week at Kundan Singh Service Station along Princes Road in Suva, along Queens Road in Pacific Harbour and Nausori.

This week, roadside resting tents will be set up at Total Service Station along Victoria Parade from 9am-11am on Thursday.

Similar resting stations will be set up in Korovou, Wainadoi and Lami next week.

LTA says Nestle staff will be stationed at these spots, offering free coffee to drivers who stop to rest and rejuvenate.

They say this gesture not only provides a caffeine boost to help drivers stay alert but also serves as a reminder of the importance of taking breaks to ensure safety on the roads.

The Authority is urging all drivers to plan their journeys carefully and adds that preparation is key, especially for long drives.

LTA Road Safety Education Manager Watilala Fonu says the campaign also featured an interactive element to further engage the community.

She says drivers who display the ‘Stop, Revive, Survive’ campaign stickers on their vehicles will automatically go into a draw to win gift hampers courtesy of Nestlé.

Fonu says these stickers serve as a visual reminder of the campaign's message and help spread awareness about the importance of preventing driver fatigue.
