Permanent Secretary of Education Selina Kuruleca reminds everyone of the immense importance of understanding, acceptance, and advocacy for individuals on the autism spectrum as we commemorate World Autism Awareness Day.

Sharing her message, the Permanent Secretary says we need to be an advocate, a voice for those whose voices may not always be heard.

She says today we have the opportunity to challenge those norms to foster a culture of inclusivity and understanding.

This year's theme is “Moving from Surviving to Thriving”: Autistic Individuals share regional perspectives’ which defines Autism is not a limitation but rather a unique way of experiencing the world.

She urges to renew our commitments to creating a world where individuals with autism are valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Kuruleca says to embrace the diversity of human experience, recognizing that our differences make us truly remarkable.

She says that we must continue to raise awareness, challenge stereotypes, and promote acceptance in every aspect of our lives.

This means advocating for accessible education, employment opportunities, and healthcare services to meet the needs of individuals.

Kuruleca further says that together, let us build a more inclusive society—one where everyone, without disparity, can thrive and contribute their unique gifts to the world.
