My heart just cries when I think about the drug problems in Fiji, because it does not have treatment centres for drugs.

Dialysis Technician, Laisani Koroi highlighted this to fijivillage News at the Festival Village of the 13th Festival of Pacific Arts and Culture in Hawaii.

Koroi says in Hawaii they have treatment centres where they can go to, but in Fiji she hopes they start soon.

She says they should start with treatment centres in Viti Levu like in Suva and the other major towns.

The former nurse says drugs affect the young people's lives even before they have started living their life.

She says they have no idea what the drugs is doing to them and will do to them later because it is not good.

The former nurse says Fiji has the best of both worlds.

Koroi who has been living in Hawaii for the past 33 years says Fiji has the culture and it is also modernized.

She says Fiji has everything they have in Hawaii, just on a smaller scale.

The former nurse says she has been reminding all her friends that the FestPAC is coming up and even told them the location of the Fiji booth because things will be affordable there.

Koroi says she misses the talanoa and the food the most.

She also ensures that her two daughters know where they are from, by taking them back to her village where they have to put the mattress down on the floor and sleep on it.

Koroi says what she witnessed at the opening ceremony where the costumes and the actions might have changed but all Fijians still have Fiji in their hearts.
