Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica

Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica has assured residents in Lautoka that their concerns will be addressed as soon as possible after residents raised serious concerns regarding road conditions and other services in Vuda Back Road, Wairebetia, Vaivai and Navula.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Lautoka resident Khelvin Sharma says bus companies have not been servicing the Vuda Back Road route since last year and students have to be taken to the main road in carriers.

He says about 120 families in Vuda have also been affected by bad road conditions.

Sharma says the Fiji Roads Authority has graded the road but it has not been completely repaired.

He says rainy weather worsens the condition of the road and it becomes more dangerous.

The resident says the community set up the Vuda Roads Committee to have these issues addressed with the relevant authorities.

He says a meeting was called with government officials and an assurance was given that bus service will be provided twice a day but that continued for two weeks only.

Kamikamica says they met with the residents on Wednesday where a lot of the issues raised will need other ministries to be involved.

He says not everything is going to be resolved straight away but he has promised that it will be addressed as soon as it can.

We have sent questions to the Land Transport Authority and the Fiji Roads Authority. They are yet to respond to our questions.
