SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya and Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem

SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya says it was premature for the Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem to have crucified a citizen however Saneem says Tabuya is a qualified lawyer and should have a look at the Electoral Act.

While speaking in parliament on the Review of the 2014 General Election Joint Report by the Fijian Electoral Commission and the Supervisor of Elections, Tabuya says a citizen was participating in the hearing of the Standing Committee of Justice, Law and Human Rights and was expressing herself about the conduct of the last two elections.

She says this was then reported in the Fiji Times who was also present at the hearing, but Saneem then condemned this citizen and reported her to FICAC.

Tabuya says this is very concerning.

While responding to the claims made by Tabuya, Saneem says Tabuya should have known more about the Electoral Act.

Saneem says this person who was reported to FICAC was holding herself out as an elections official in the 2018 general election when she was not.

He says this is the requirement of the Electoral Act.
