SODELPA MP Simione Rasova and Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

SODELPA MP Simione Rasova says it is unprecedented of this government for an annual report to arrive into parliament for debate after almost five years however the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says many ministries years ago were not producing their annual reports on time as well.

Rasova highlighted this while contributing to the motion for debate of the ‘Consolidated Report on the Review of Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism 2016/17 and 2017/18 Annual Reports’.

He says even though the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism has 7 statutory bodies, it does not give them the right to delay the reports.

Rasova then asked Sayed-Khaiyum to tell his ministers and Permanent Secretaries to deliver annual reports on time, if not then he should fire them.

The Acting Prime Minister says this is the key performance indicator of the Permanent Secretaries and with the work Public Service Commission is doing, they will be able to improve these services.
