The President of Nausori Principals Association, Vishnu Deo Sharma says the Association has heard the views of the Minister for Education, Premila Kumar on computer labs and would eagerly await the strategic direction provided by the Ministry to make things happen positively for the children’s education enhancement.

Sharma says they feel we need to really understand in the right context what Minister Kumar has alluded to regarding the dismantling of computer labs in schools.

He says to his understanding, it is to provide a new direction in terms of learning and teaching so that technology is not limited within an assigned room but it gets integrated into all subjects.

Sharma says it is not about physically bringing down the existing structure, but to gradually make the learning environment an icon of 21st century learning.

He further says that technology has revolutionized over the years and if we are not able to move with the pace, our system will become obsolete and boring for our modern era and techno-centred learners.

Sharma says technology has moved out of four walls and into our hands and pockets as and where we are.

The President says that since the Ministry provides the free education grant and a significant amount is allocated towards IT, he sees no issues why schools cannot move into smarter and better learning gadgets that can bring enthusiasm and innovation in daily learning.

He says many schools have already leaped into this direction by investing in tablets and smart TV, thus, students have started to enjoy these gadgets, making their learning and teaching enjoyable and worthwhile.

The Nausori Principals Association is a professional body that is made up of Heads of Schools all schools from Nausori Education District, the largest education district under the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts.
