In 2020 and last year during COVID-19 restrictions, 1,459 genuine calls were received through the national child helpline - 1325.

The calls were from children, parents and members of the community.

According to the child welfare national database, a total of 1,518 cases like abuse, exploitation and bullying were reported last year and 49% of the cases were reported through the national child helpline.

While speaking at the official launch of the helpline’s mascot Charlie the Turtle at the Fiji Museum foyer, Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar revealed that since 2015 the child helpline has received 67,091 calls and responded to 10,698 genuine calls.

She says they have about 9,000 recipients of the care and protection allowance which is given to children who are looked after by their grandparents.

The Child Helpline 1325 is available to you and your child 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

1325 is a toll-free number that is manned by professional counsellors who are ready to listen to your problems and guide you towards getting the help you need and deserve.
