We cannot run the Government next year if there is still some unclear business to look after and I will never mention that it's my Government as this is the people's Government.

This was highlighted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka while visiting the chiefly island of Bau this morning.

He reiterated that there may be plans from the Government to visit the island, but today is about reconnecting with the Turaga na Vunivalu of Bau.

The Prime Minister presented a tabua asking for forgiveness.

He also asked for the support of the Kubuna confederacy.

Rabuka says he will deliver a national address tomorrow regarding the New Year.

Rabuka led off with a poem that was mentioned by a late chief saying “I said to the man at the gate of the year, give me a light that I might see my way into the future."

He quoted that "he said to me, walk into the darkness, go ahead, put your hands in the hands of God that will be better than any light and safer to any known way."

He says on his first day when he was sworn in at Parliament, he was the youngest of them all and last week, he was the oldest member to be sworn into Government.

He adds to make the connection between the Government and the Vanua, the love for all the beliefs in the country will automatically bond our races together and become one.

Rabuka says they are working on forgiving those that have been sent to jail and have served their time as it's in their manifesto.

He says this is giving back the authority to all the chiefs of Fiji in the Great Council of Chiefs or the Bose Levu Vakaturaga.

The Prime Minister ended his message by blessing the Chiefly family of Bau and the Kubuna confederacy.
