People’s Alliance launches doctrine titled Let Love Shine

Peoples Alliance Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka

The People’s Alliance has today launched their doctrine based on love that leader, Sitiveni Rabuka says will be woven into their manifesto.

Rabuka says fear of government has haunted Fiji since December 2006 and if the People’s Alliance takes office, this fear will be removed.

While speaking on him hurting many people in the past years, Rabuka says he will work with their government to achieve unity, peace, prosperity and happiness.

Rabuka says love is showing malice towards none and forgiving those in national leadership who have wronged Fiji through arrogance and vindictiveness, it embraces humility and empathy – the ability to share and understand the feelings of others.

He says to rule through love is to stand with the poorest of the poor and help them to end their hunger and heartache and find new hope for the future.

Rabuka says they will never forget that the government itself does not have any money and most of it will come from the taxpayers or from the government borrowings to be repaid, again by taxpayers.

The PA leader further says they must remind themselves constantly that when they build the new bridge, road or health centre, they are not doing the people a favour but they are carrying out the work they have paid for and they are elected to do this for them.

He further says love calls to them to end the epidemic of violence against women and children.

The PA Leader also says the young men and boys who engage in dangerous gang violence and thuggery must be guided by love built around firm control and wise counsel.

He says this will take them into new ways of living and if they have broken the law, of course they must be answerable.

Rabuka says prisoners in our jails should be supported as they prepare for returning to society and that assistance will be underscored by the kind of love and teaching that will help transform them unto upright citizens.

He says love requires them to do a better job of caring for the sick and those who look after them.

He adds in an ethnically and culturally diverse community, love is accepting that differences are part of Fiji’s national identity and that we all belong here.

Rabuka says through love we can put aside sometimes uneasy co-existence and lingering suspicions of the past.

He says they will encourage greater mutual understanding and tolerance especially among the young.

He says love of Fiji requires us to cherish our environment and the beauty of our islands, trees, plants, animals and sea creatures and we must all come together to rid the land and ocean of pollution and waste that degrade and poison creation.

He further says they will be just and fair, abiding by the rule of law and the standards of democracy that put the people first.

Rabuka says they will speak out and act decisively for truth, the public and openness and adds they will be innovative and visionary in planning the future, drawing on the collective hopes and dreams of Fijians from all walks of life.
