Political leaders' messages are always politically correct, but it is never about action – Deo

Political leaders' messages are always politically correct, but they are never about action and they talk without real implementation, which will not lead to sustainable change.

This statement has been made by the CEO of the Pacific Recycling Foundation Amitesh Deo during the launch of the I-Recycle program today.

He says while environmental initiatives have been discussed for years, the lack of real implementation has hindered progress.

Deo says it is important for government agencies to collaborate with organisations working at the grassroots level.

He says changing this mindset is crucial to ensure Collection Pillars of Recycling are treated with dignity.

Deo also reveals concerns about troubling trends, such as finding needles and bottles of urine with other things for recycling, especially in schools and the private sector.

He says it is important to bring these issues to the forefront of the national agenda.

While speaking at the launch of the Recycle Programme, Minister for Environment and Climate Change Mosese Bulitavu says the launch marks a shared commitment to a greener future for the nation.

He says the program starts with the Ministry as a symbol of leadership, and it will soon be extended to government complexes, integrating sustainable waste management practices into the public sector.

He further says littering is not just careless; it obstructs progress, health and environmental preservation.

He adds that every discarded piece of waste takes Fiji further away from the paradise it strives to protect.

The Minister is calling for collective action, urging all Fijians to adopt recycling and waste sorting habits.

He urges the nation to see this campaign as a movement and encourages every individual to take action toward a sustainable future.
