Film lovers were in for a treat today at the opening of the Pacific Human Rights Film Festival 2023 at the University of the South Pacific as they watched the film "Oceans Apart: Greed and Betrayal in Pacific Rugby".

Pacific Rugby Players Welfare founder and former Samoan rugby international, Dan Leo who is also a producer of the documentary flew in for this historic event

Leo asks how do we become less dependent on World Rugby for spoon feeding us everything.

He says we as in the Pacific Island teams of Samoa, Tonga and Fiji cannot always be the worker for everyone, there should be a progression in place where we become the boss.

He thinks Fiji is well on its way towards that and hopefully the other islands are as well.

He made these comments during the talanoa session earlier today where the rugby unions sat down with Fiji Rugby and a World Rugby representative.

On his thoughts regarding the 2 teams from the Pacific playing in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, Leo says it's a bit of a mixed bag.

The Film Festival will be showcasing films from around the region at USP until 9th December.
