Hotels and resorts around the country are in the process to ensure that they have enough rooms available for many guests coming in from abroad when international borders open on December 1st.

The CEO of Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association, Fantasha Lockington says right now many of the accommodation providers are bringing back their staff to ensure they are ready and become a Care Fiji Commitment certified property.

She says the hotels and resorts have to make sure they follow all the COVID protocols and their staff are trained properly.

The Health Ministry confirms that from 11th November through to 1st December 2021, Fiji will only accept fully vaccinated permit holders, Fijian passport holders and returning residents who will be required to undertake a 3-day quarantine in a Fiji Managed Quarantine facility and will be subject to RT-PCR COVID tests 72 hours pre-departure and in-country.

Lockington says they are also ensuring that enough Care Fiji Commitment certified hotels are available to accommodate the incoming people.

From 1st December 2021, the Government says Fiji will be open to all fully vaccinated travellers from Travel Partner Countries for quarantine free travel however travellers must produce proof of a minimum of 3 nights of pre-paid accommodation at a Care Fiji Commitment certified hotel or resort which must also include CFC certified ground transfers from the airport.

Fiji’s Travel Partners as of 22nd October 2021 are Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Japan, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Palau, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Spain, Switzerland, Tonga, Tuvalu, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, United States of America, Vanuatu.

Travellers coming from a Fiji Travel Partner country do not require any prior approval however the negative RT-PCR COVID test and proof of vaccination will be verified by the airline.

Prior to arrival, travellers 12 years and above will be required to produce a negative RT-PCR COVID test taken no more than 3 days prior to the day of departure.

For travellers who previously tested positive within 90 days of travel to Fiji, they must provide proof of the isolation period served from a credible institution or produce a fit to fly certificate from a medical practitioner.

If outside the 90 days, a negative result applies for an RT-PCR COVID test.

All travellers must produce proof of full vaccination. Only travellers who are under the age of 18 years will be exempt, provided they are accompanied by a parent or guardian who is vaccinated.

Vaccinated minors below the age of 18 years may travel unaccompanied, observing all international travel protocols.

Travellers must have stayed in a Travel Partner country for at least 10 days prior to coming to Fiji.

The Government says travellers must have medical travel insurance, with international coverage that covers COVID-19 before travelling.

When in Fiji, travellers must download the careFIJI app and keep the device Bluetooth turned on at all times during their stay.

All travellers must spend 3 nights in a Care Fiji Commitment certified property and can take part in approved excursions and activities within the Safe Travel Area.

Travellers will be required to take an approved COVID-19 test after 48 hours of arrival at the hotel. After clearing a negative test, the traveller is free to explore the Safe Travel Area or enter the community.

Lockington says they are ensuring that by December 1st, they are ready for an increased number of visitors as everyone coming in has to spend 3 nights at a certified hotel or resort.
