The Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry program provided by the Fiji National University is not registered under the Fiji Higher Education Commission.

This was highlighted by the Fiji Higher Education Commission when questioned on why it allowed FNU to establish vet courses knowing that the program can not be accredited and graduates who have paid thousands of dollars on the FNU fees cannot get registered after completing their studies.

The Higher Education Commission says they did not allow FNU to offer this program.

It also says that FNU did not submit the program to the Higher Education for recording.

The Commission says FNU is a self-accrediting institute so it can offer programs independently, however, all programs must be recorded with commission and in this case, it was not.

It says the commission has made inquiries with FNU and is being told that they are working with the Fiji Veterinary Association to get all the graduates properly registered as vets, sometime this year.

When questioned on why students are still getting enrolled in the vet courses when they are not registered and recognized after graduating, the commission says the program is not offered any more, so students are not enrolling in this program.

We have also sent questions to the FNU. They are yet to respond.
