During the official opening of the Suva Grammar School’s 60th+4 Diamond Jubilee celebrations, many Grammarians were seen reminiscing about their days at school.

Olive Pickering Frebrey who attended Grammar in the 60's in an interview with fijivillage News says the school has played a vital role in her life in shaping who she is today.

Frebrey says she represented Fiji in the 2nd and 3rd South Pacific Games and then migrated to Australia in 1969 however she is immensely happy to return to Suva Grammar.

She says she is disappointed that the School Pool has closed adding that every person in Fiji needs to learn to swim because a lot of children continue to drown.

Frebery says she was also part of the Suva Grammar School Reign Parade March from the Suva Flea Market to Albert Park this morning which reminded her of the Hibiscus Festival.

On what she misses the most about her school, Frebrey jokingly said she used to end up at the Principal’s office for misbehaving.

Meanwhile, Losana Ah Yuk says it is a fantastic feeling to be back at the School and catching up with her friends, and even without the reunion they keep in touch.

The Ex-Students Association have also raised funds that will go towards the construction of the school gym.

Ah Yuk says the class of 70’s have organised a Sun Downer meaning cocktails on order as a get-together which will be on next Tuesday at the Fiji Golf Club.

There will be a Thanksgiving Church Service at the Suva Grammar School hall tomorrow at 3pm.

The Diamond Jubilee celebration will end next Saturday.
