The Fijian Government says in their effort to assist locals in reaching out to the Tongan victims of the recent volcanic eruption and tsunami, they are working to look at how best they can offer logistical support.

The Government in partnership with the Tongan Community in Fiji is calling for an Expression of Interest from organisations, groups and individuals intending to send relief items to Tonga following the aftermath of the disaster.

They say that following their first contacts with the Tongan National Emergency Management Office, water has been identified as one of the most immediate needs.

Other non-food items urgently needed include tarpaulins, shelter tool kits, water, sanitation and hygiene or WASH kits, kitchen sets, cleaning agents, shovel, wheelbarrows, cleaning brooms, solar lights, tents, chainsaws, water tanks, personal protective items, mops, scrubbing brush, emergency blankets and non-perishable food.

The Expression of Interest closes at midnight on Tuesday.

If you want to assist Tongan families during this time of need, you go to https://ee.humanitarianresponse.info/x/HUv9uxU6?fbclid=IwAR1RPjPD0RsmaLZB-f-0bs2rFwBc5NcTf2Kcexy99wKa-tA4WtLPyjc8Zqw to register your interest or you can contact NDMO.
