The ongoing water cuts in Namadi Heights and nearby areas continue to frustrate residents, who have been without proper water supply since Saturday.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Namadi Heights resident Minna Devi says water is an essential resource for daily living, and the lack of a reliable supply has caused significant inconvenience.

Devi says since Saturday, her family has been forced to purchase bottled water for drinking, cooking, and even showers.

Devi also highlighted the situation as a daily struggle, saying every day feels like a battle for water.

She also criticized Water Authority’s repeated response that Namadi Heights is a hilly area, calling it a worn-out excuse.

Devi adds this is 2025, and they are still dealing with the same issues they experienced last year.

WAF say recent weather events have caused significantly elevated turbidity levels in their source streams.

They say this has severely affected operations at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant, disrupting water supply to several areas.

WAF adds the high turbidity levels have made water treatment more complex and time-intensive, reducing the plant’s production capacity.

The affected areas include Namadi Heights, Bayview Heights, Sakoca, Tacirua, Tamavua, Dokaisuva, Coloisuva, and parts of Lami.

WAF is yet to confirm supply will normalise.
