Playing football most of his life, from primary school to secondary school, Swire Shipping Fijian Drua Development player Mesake Vocevoce is now slowly stamping his mark in rugby.

The 20-year-old says even though he just played football in school, he always dreamt of making it big in rugby and he never stopped believing in himself.

The Narewa, Nadi man says he only started playing rugby when he left high school and joined the Nadi Rugby under-19 team for the Skipper Cup competition where he was spotted by the national selectors.

He says he was also blessed to have been given the opportunity to join the Fiji Rugby Union High Performance Unit where things started opening up for him.

Vocevoce has maternal links to Korovuto, Nadi and he says he was also inspired by his uncles from his maternal side to take up rugby.

When asked by fijivillage News on what goals he has set, Vocevoce says he is focusing on just improving his game and the areas he needs to work on.

He says he is getting all the help he could get from the senior players in the team and he is thankful for that.

Vocevoce was the only Drua Development player who played in last week’s warm-up match against the ACT Brumbies in Canberra.

The Fijian Drua will take on the Blues in their first game of the 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific on the 24th of February in Auckland.
