From a 7-year-old young boy doing paper runs and selling CDs to earn some money, to becoming a successful entrepreneur who is worth millions of dollars in Dubai, Sam Ratumaitavuki has a lot of great stories worth telling on his journey to success.

Originally from Moturiki in the province of Lomaiviti, Ratumaitavuki was born in West Auckland, NZ and moved to South Brisbane, Australia in his early teen days and now currently resides in Dubai.

Ratumaitavuki is a co-founder of two mobile games publishing companies Fortafy Games which published the biggest indie game of 2015 Color Switch which has over 150 million downloads and Perfect Tap Games which they just released a mobile game called "Chicken Scream" which also went number 1 all around the world.

During an interview with fijivillage News, Ratumaitavuki says his journey was not easy especially when doing something where there's no blueprint and there was no one that he could look up to that came from where he came from.

He says he has done a lot of things, especially music, but his biggest skill set is business.

The 33-year-old says he grew up poor alongside his four brothers and lived off his father’s salary and that was one of the motivating factors that inspired him to achieve the goals he set growing up.

Ratumaitavuki says it is also about wanting more.

He says a lot of people nowadays, just scroll on TikTok and feed their minds with stuff that's not really useful, whereas for him, he was always watching documentaries and was always in the how to make money chat rooms back then.

He adds he just always believed in himself and always saw things and had a hundred different questions for them.

Ratumaitavuki says he has that inquisitive nature where he always knew that he was going to make it.

He says during his journey to success, he even had to work 12 hours job then the other part of the day he would be doing music, going to the gym and just sleeping for 3 to 4 hours a day.

Ratumaitavuki says he was never content and always asked himself what was next so he could keep working towards it.

He says a lot of people try and downplay or have negative things about entrepreneurial hustle, and that is because they can't see themselves doing it, so they try to put their insecurities and negative beliefs onto everyone else.

Ratumaitavuki says when he was young, he did not have any business people around him and did not know anyone who even had a business, but he would just do his research online and would look at school jobs, interviews and podcasts.

He says the secret to it is trying your best to investigate whatever is going on around you.

He adds it is all about keep trying and keep learning.

Ratumaitavuki says a lot of people are scared to start and do not realise that the more times we fail, the more knowledge we are going to get.

He says a lot of people only hang around with people that are similar to them but for him, he would hang around with BMX riders, surfer guys and all different people, and he always just gets information.

He adds if people only hang around the people that are similar to them, they are already digesting the same information that they already know.

Ratumaitavuki says there were a lot of challenges along the way as he lost a lot of money and lost a lot of friends along the way but he always feels that it is all part of life.

He says at the end of the day, it is all about making sure that more is won than lost.
