The French Ambassador to Fiji Jean Francois Fitou is calling for people to play their part in supporting market vendors as they take part in this year’s Bastille Day.

Fitou says they want to help people instead of having a usual diplomatic party.

Bastille Day is the National Day of France.

The French Ambassador to Fiji says there is a need to help the vendors adding that however bad the situation is they would help as they are part of the community and share the same hardships.

Women Entrepreneurs Business Council Chair Eseta Nadakuitavuki says some of their vendors are working on new products that they will launch during the market day.

She says they will be mindful of the COVID-19 related restrictions that are still in place.

Nadakuitavuki says they will ensure people are practising social distancing and they will also be providing hand sanitizers.

Bastille Day with Market Vendors will be held this Saturday from 10am to 3pm at Thurston Gardens in Suva.

Organiser Ellana Kalounisiga says they would also be having a food drive where market vendors will bring a bag of grocery which will be forwarded to those in need.
