A former hotel worker is thankful to have supportive parents that helped her start her massaging business Urban Thera Spa at Dio Street in Nadawa.

Teresia Tagamalo who was working as a beauty therapist for Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi was laid off from work in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She says being dismissed from work took a toll on her mental health as she did not know when everything would go back to normal.

The single mother says her mum was the inspiration behind her business as she always told her that she could earn money from doing what she loved.

She adds her first client was her mum because she is physically ill and the massages would benefit her.

Tagamalo says her parents bought her massaging bed so she could start her own business.

She says she has already been interviewed to return to her previous job at the hotel but will continue to do what she loves.

Tagamalo is looking to expand her business in the future.

She adds the pandemic has taught her that family is the most important thing in life and always be prepared for the worst.
