Former Queen Victoria School Police officers took some time out last week to visit their former school and speak to more than 700 students, ahead of the much anticipated 2024 Coca-Cola Games this week and discuss issues on bullying, drugs, sexual assault, and ill-discipline.

The Police ex-QVS delegation was led by the Director of Strategic Planning, Acting Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pauliasi Colamoto who was accompanied by former students Inspector Sanaila Roqara, Inspector Apenisa Turagabeci, Sergeant Apisalome Vesikula, Corportal Viliame Kanawale, Police Constable (PC) Valevatu Rabuku, PC Jone Bola, PC Baogo Laurua and PC Nacanieli Navukula.

The Old-scholars pleaded with the students that they should be on their best behaviour as temptation would be rife in their young lives, and when in doubt, to fall back on the values and teachings from home and school. SSP Colamoto says cases reported from the school over the past five years were a major concern for the old scholars in the Force.

SSP Colamoto reiterates that the visitation was an extension of the Community Policing initiative, and a means of encouraging students to avoid getting on the wrong side of the law, as there are consequences to their education and future. The ex-QVS officers reminded the students to adhere to the rules and regulations of the games, as safety and security are paramount for major sporting and social activities for students this week during the Coca-Cola games.

Meanwhile, Police are calling on parents and guardians to continuously talk and provide necessary guidance to their children so they can make informed decisions on their own.

Police officers, with the help of stakeholders, have been visiting schools, talking about issues of concern ahead of their much-deserved two-week break, and they ask that the process be continued at home.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held from this Thursday to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium.
